One, Another (2020)

Two photographers, two subjects, both with different cultural backgrounds and life experiences, both having fallen in love. This is the starting point of ‘One, Another’, a series of black and white photographs made by Aishah Kenton and Sean Davey (Kenton/Davey).

The camera is passed around like a plate of food at a communal meal, the experience of being photographer and subject is shared by both artists, each taking their turn at any opportunity they feel to photograph one another, making a record of their experiences and also making something larger, something more abstract, something in the realm of art yet firmly grounded in their own personal reality.

The singular viewpoint is widened to embrace and celebrate two perspectives, bringing the viewer not only with them on the artists’ journey, but placing them directly between the pair, inside their lives, and welcoming you to experience a shared passion for love, life and photography.
